Coronation Street’s Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) and Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) have never exactly been the best of friends, but that all looks set to change.
The pair are set to form an unlikely – but genius – friendship in scenes to air this week, when they both realise they are short on mates.
Tracy recently railed against Leanne after she roped daughter Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) into Rowan Cunliffe’s (Emrhys Cooper) cult The Institute last year.
Amy ended up being conned out of £40,000 of her late grandmother Deirdre Barlow’s (Anne Kirkbride) inheritance money by Rowan, which despite him now being behind bars, she has still not recovered.
However, on Monday, Leanne sets about putting things right with Amy, handing her a cheque for £12,000.
Leanne explains it has come from the compensation she received from her father Les Battersby’s (Bruce Jones) fatal workplace accident, and wants her to accept it.
Later in the week, after months of tension, Tracy points out that neither she or Leanne have any friends right now and suggests they head out to have some fun.
At the Bistro, they enjoy watching Leanne’s sister Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) getting grief from Abi Webster (Sally Carman).
On Friday, it’s Leanne’s big day in court, as she faces the music over the events of Christmas, which saw relations between her and Toyah reach boiling point over her sister’s affair with Nick Tilsley (Ben Price).
After Leanne receives a community order, Tracy points out to her newfound friend that Toyah not only stole her man, but her flat with all her things in it too, leaving her with food for thought.
Is this the start of a beautiful new friendship?
