Inside The Night Caller’s Rosa star Suzanne Packer’s life including famous ex

Channel 5’s latest thriller, The Night Caller, is set to keep viewers on tenterhooks. The series features an all-star cast including Robert Glenister, known for his roles in Hustle, Spooks, and Sherwood, who plays Tony, a taxi driver with a dangerous obsession.

Tony becomes infatuated with cafe worker Rosa, portrayed by Casualty star Suzanne Packer, and Lawrence, a late-night radio talk-show host played by Sean Pertwee, known for You and Gotham.

Suzanne is no stranger to medical dramas, having starred as Tess Bateman in Casualty from September 2003 to August 2015, as well as appearing in Holby City and Doctors.

Before her fame in Casualty, the 61 year old actress had a role in Grange Hill at the age of 32, playing teacher Miss Foster.

Her TV career continued post-Casualty, featuring in an episode of Death in Paradise as Maya Oprey in 2018, and more recently in ITV’s The Pembrokeshire Murders this year.

Interestingly, Suzanne’s brother is also a well-known figure, but not for acting. Colin Jackson, a former sprint and hurdling athlete, gained fame when he won an Olympic silver medal.

He has been world champion twice, and his 60-metre hurdle time held the world record for an impressive 27 years.

Since hanging up his Olympic speed skates, Colin Jackson CBE has seamlessly transitioned into broadcasting with the BBC and even dazzled us on 2021’s Dancing On Ice.

The Jacksons were Cardiff kids through and through, and proudly embraced their Jamaican roots. Long before she became a familiar face on our screens, Suzanne honed her craft at the National Youth Theatre in Wales and spread her passion for performance as a drama teacher.

In a heartwarming chat with the BBC, Suzanne reflected: “I loved it. And do you know why? Because of the acting. They fed off each other in a very, very positive way.”

Colin and Suzanne Jackson – two siblings oozing talent – have graced our televisions together just once in 2011.

They joined forces on a celeb special of the hit quiz show Pointless on BBC, but their teamwork wasn’t enough to dodge an early exit in the first round.

But Suzanne isn’t the only one in her family rubbing shoulders with fame.

Her former beau and co-parent to their son Paris, Jesse Newman, is part of the film world himself, starring in movies like 2022’s F***ed in the Head and the 2014 laugh-a-minute flick Motherless.
