In the latest installment of Coronation Street, a significant twist involves Roy Cropper and Bobby Crawford. Roy has reportedly exposed Bobby for providing a fake alibi, leading to Bobby’s arrest for perverting the course of justice. This development unfolds after Roy admits that Bobby lied in his police testimony.

The episode that aired on Tuesday, May 28th, revisits the events of the bank holiday from a new perspective. Much of the episode centers on Carla and DS Swain. Their paths cross when Carla returns the detective’s misplaced police badge to the precinct. DS Swain, sensing Carla’s reluctance, inquires whether Bobby is questioning Roy’s testimony and asks if there has been any progress in getting Roy released from prison.

Fans will recall that Bobby recently misled the police by claiming to have seen an intruder in Lauren’s apartment who did not match Roy’s description. This false statement led the police to consider Daniel Osborne, who had been giving Lauren private tuition, as a suspect. Carla responds angrily to DS Swain’s accusations, asserting that the only information she wants is for Roy to be released. However, DS Swain informs Carla that Roy will not be freed soon due to the substantial evidence linking him to Lauren’s disappearance.

After overhearing DS Swain arguing with her daughter over the phone, Carla questions the detective’s commitment to the case. DS Swain responds sharply, suggesting that if Carla wishes to file a complaint about her work, there is a protocol for that. In a heated exchange, DS Swain accuses Carla of undermining Bobby’s statement with her questions. Later, DS Swain apologizes to Carla at Roy’s Rolls for their earlier confrontation, promising to keep Carla and Bobby updated on Roy’s situation. She also vows to suggest to Roy that he accepts their support.

Bobby, feeling betrayed by Carla, accuses her of revealing their secret when she mentioned seeing someone else to Swain. Carla, frustrated with Bobby, retorts angrily. As Carla leaves, she finds DS Swain sobbing in her car after another argument with her daughter.

The episode takes a darker turn when Nathan is taken into custody for a probable parole violation. Viewers also witness suspicious footage of DS Green loitering around a van, repeatedly checking to ensure no one is watching him conduct a search. The episode ends on a sinister note as terrorist Griff Reynolds confronts Roy in his cell, threatening to hold him accountable for spying on him. Will Roy make it through this ordeal?
