Lily isn’t the same girl Cane first fell in love with.
Lily is a popular legacy character on The Young and the Restless. She’s been involved in many storylines, most of which revolve around her relationship with Cane. With Lily and Cane no longer together, Christel Khalil says a new side of her character is emerging.
’Her Own Person’
Lily (Christel Khalil) and Cane (Billy Flynn), aka Lane, have been through many obstacles. They’ve had to endure Lily’s cancer battle, Cane’s lies, infidelity on both sides, and Lily’s prison sentence. No matter what happened, the couple remained together and had twins, Charlie (Noah Alexander Gerry) and Mattie (Lexi Stevenson).
However, in 2019, following Lily’s release from prison, the couple divorced. Despite Cane’s attempts to save their marriage, Lily was adamant that they needed to move on. While fans were upset with Lane’s breakup, it was the beginning of a new Lily. In a recent interview with Soaps.com, Khalil revealed how her character has changed since the divorce.
“With Cane, it was less about communicating and more her reacting to things,” Khalil explained. “They spent so much time figuring out their relationship and working through the problems that came up that she wasn’t really able to focus on becoming her own person.”
A Better Place
Over the years, Lily’s worked hard to become the smart, independent businesswoman who stands up for herself. “Lily’s in a much healthier place,” Khalil gushed. “She’s grown and she’s in a much better headspace than she was even just a few years ago.”
However, now that Cane is back in town, Lily is facing a new challenge. Although she’s declared they’re not getting back together, that hasn’t stopped Cane from wooing his ex-wife.
With Cane pulling out all the stops, will Lily fall under his spell again? Or will she fight the temptation and continue on her own pat
