Call The Midwife star lands sexy new role on Casualty after quitting beloved drama amid break-up…

Fans were devastated when the popular character left the BBC show

HE’S caused a sensation since appearing on Call the Midwife, now The Sun can reveal that Olly Rix has left to sign up for another big medical drama.

The 37-year-old actor, who’s played the beloved show’s Matthew Aylward  for the past three years, is now heading to Saturday night stalwart, Casualty.

Olly has just joined the long-running programme as a hunky surgeon, and as recent social media images will confirm he’s been getting himself in shape for the part.

A TV insider said: “He has already got viewers’ hot under the collar on Call the Midwife, but their pulses will be truly racing when they see Olly embrace the steamy new role.

“Although filming on the new series has been going on for weeks now, fans of Olly will have to wait until next year before they get the chance to see him on Casualty.”

Olly already caused quite a stir during his time on Call the Midwife, playing businessman Matthew, the wife of nurse Trixie Frankie, played by Helen George.

The two actors were frequently pictured growing close this year as they both split from their respective real life partners.

In November, Helen was spotted leaving Olly’s house in West London.

It came four months after she announced her split from actor partner Jack Ashton, whom she met on the BBC show in 2014.

At about the same time Olly split from his make-up artist girlfriend Natasha Fagri after seven years together.

Earlier this year Matthew exited Call the Midwife with viewers watching him pack up and leave for New York without his wife.

It’s been confirmed he won’t be back for the next series, but the actor was keeping tight-lipped about what was next for his career.

However, the impressive photos of him working out topless in the gym in Instagram last week suggested he was getting ready for something that required him to look seriously sexy.
