Lily was a bit obnoxious, but it was so much fun working with seasoned professionals like Rowell and the late Kristoff St. John. Their support helped me find my footing.”
Christel acknowledges how different the show’s fast-paced environment was to her at first, but she felt welcomed into a family, both on-screen and off, which made the experience much smoother. Over the years, Lily’s character has evolved significantly. Christel reflects on Lily’s transformation, noting, “Those early rebellious years were crucial. Despite her flaws, Lily was loved and respected, which helped her grow into the strong, self-assured woman she is today.”
However, the journey wasn’t without its challenges. A significant aspect of Lily’s growth involved her tumultuous relationship with Cane. Christel believes that while Lily learned valuable lessons from her time with Cane, their relationship was more about reaction and less about communication. She explains, “We spent so much time trying to navigate our issues that I couldn’t focus on becoming my own person. But that was then, and this is now.”
Christel is pleased to see Lily in a much healthier and happier place today. She smiles, noting that Lily has grown a lot and is now in a better headspace than she was just a few years ago.
